Richard Cullen

Richard Cullen is a retired civil engineer living in Oxford, where he belongs to a small group of writers.
A specialist in irrigation engineering and water resource management, he travelled extensively during his professional life, with long tours in Malawi, Indonesia, Bahrain and Bangladesh. He went on to concentrate on developing environmental management work focused on urban water management in Eastern Europe and transboundary river water quality cooperation in the former Soviet Union (All of this involved institutional development work with related governmental and other organisations.
His first experience of life abroad was as a young child in Egypt. His work took him to some forty other countries, giving him the wealth of experience that gives texture to his writing.
In his spare time he collects military medals, and it was that activity that prompted him to write In Which They Served, about five men and women who survived the Great War, and then Flights of Fancy.
